  • MECHANISM OF NEW RESIDENCE AND TREND OF RENOVATION IN OSAKA MODERN NAGAYA: A case study through the network of OPEN NAGAYA OSAKA

    This study summarizes how new dwellers move into Osaka Modern Nagaya, and how these row-houses are renovated, based on field surveys of seventeen cases of recent new dwellers, and consequently arrives at the findings described below. New dwellers move into rental row-houses normally through connections mediated by community-based real estate agencies or acquaintances. The owned houses have gone through relatively pricey renovations, including seismic retrofitting, while it has costed the tenants of the rented houses an average of 2.76 million yen to have their houses renovated. After the renovations, most cases retain the original planar composition.

  • The Spaces Where Interaction Occurs Between Children with Disabilities and Normal Children in After School Activity Facilities: A Case Study of Two Types of After-School Activity in Osaka City

     View Summary

    The purpose of this study is to obtain knowledge to improve the environment of after school activities facilities where children with disabilities can easily make friends by focusing on the space.
    We surveyed 8 facilities from two kinds of after school activities facilities in Osaka city, and clarified the spatial condition that children with disabilities and healthy children can easily interact. We conducted the following investigation.
    1) An interview survey to after-school child care instructors on behavior and space usage of children with disabilities.
    2) Behavior observation survey of 20 children with disabilities. The interaction between children with disability and healthy children or instructors, the type of exchanges, and behavior trajectories were recorded.
